Having finally killed btsound/bt878 (I hope) I load snd_bt87x as such.
# modprobe -v snd_bt87x load_all=1
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.15/kernel/sound/pci/snd-bt87x.ko load_all=1 index=-2
It seems to work but I can find no mention of it when I run dmesg. It appears in lsmod but it is not used by any other modules unlike bt878 which was used by bttv. And as always snd_bt87x does not apear in cat /proc/asound/cards.
I have included dmesg, lsmod and cat /proc/asound/cards output as reference if it is any help.
