Nope, just the opposite - it's too easy to bother explaining ;-) Configure your apps to output to the "front", "rear", and "center_lfe" devices to use them as independent stereo pairs. Or use JACK which will expose each input and output (up to 16 of each, obviously not connected on all boards) as an independent mono port.
