KMPlayer has an option for 6.1 stereo, still it doesn´t work. There´s no
surround61.conf file in /usr/share/alsa/pcm

Currently the application has to choose.
So, if there is no surround61 option in the application, then the answer
is no.
Some applications have surround71 options, which might be suitable.
