Good question - I don't think so. There are plans to allow defining "virtual" controls in alsa-lib but it's not done yet. You could write a script to change both controls at once with amixer. It would be helpful if the apps let you gang arbitrary controls, but I don't know of any that do it. You could use software volume control in XMMS.
