Thanks.  It's Debian based, so putting in
"blacklist cx88-alsa" in /etc/modules.conf should be
fine.

One last question: do you think there's a bug in
snd-hda-intel or cx88_alsa?  One other thing I didn't
understand was why the snd-hda-intel driver didn't
just install itself into index 1 after it saw that
cx88_alsa had taken over index 0?  Just wondering if I
should file a bug report against one of them so
someone knows about it...
