You can use 'iec958' device name.

'plug:iec958:T22' or 'plug:iec958' or 'plug:spdif:T22' or 'plug:spdif'
device does not work? The iec958 device is raw device (without any
conversions). Applications expect to work with 16-bit samples usually.
