I wonder wether the format "S16_LE" is needed.
Generally, I read that it was convenient to create sub PCMs using the
"asym" (bi-directionnal) and "plug" (automatical rates) plugin.
Therefore, you should be able to play/record several streams on the left
and no need to adapt rates.
Like that :
pcm.asymed0 {
type asym
playback.pcm "dmixed0"
capture.pcm "dsnooped0"
}
pcm.pasymed0 {
type plug
slave.pcm "asymed0"
}
