Hi,

I have searched extensively on this but haven't been able to solve the
problem. Hopefully someone here has figured it out already and can help me.

I am running Sabayon (Gentoo) linux on of the the new Mac Pro's (NOT a
macbook pro). Here is my lspci:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 631xESB/632xESB High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 09)
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 23
       Memory at 92f00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
       Capabilities: [60] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/0
Enable-
Capabilities: [70] Express Unknown type IRQ 0

I am using alsa-driver-1.0.14_rc3. I have tried both installing it from a
gentoo package and compiling from source with the same result. The sound is
there, but it is extremely faint. I am using a kernel called
2.6.20-sabayon-r3.

I did my configuration with alsaconf. My system has neither ~/.asoundrc or
/etc/asound.conf. The only configuration file I'm aware on my system of is
/etc/asound.state.

I know that some people have this driver version working with this
soundcard. (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/89980)
That's why I'm wondering if it could be an alsa configuration problem rather
than a driver problem.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Also, please
let me know if you require more information about my system.

Many Thanks,
Ryan
