I had been using hw:0,2, but spdif doesn't work either. The command
arecord -f cd -D spdif aha.wav
results, after some seconds, in the error message
arecord: pcm_read:1346: read error: Input/output error
leaving a 44 byte (i.e., empty) wav file. Does that message mean anything
to you?
