FYI since it didn't work as you suggested, I checked rcalsasound and
figured that openSuse first checks for /etc/modprobe.d/sound. But setting
a model didn't work with /etc/modprobe.d/sound either (I tried all of them).
I'm pretty sure now that my main problem is with the onboard sound card.
When I stop the sound system and then execute "/sbin/modprobe snd-hda-intel"
then /proc/asound/modules shows
0 snd_hda_intel
1 snd_hda_intel
and I don't think that this is correct.
