Mine is 1.0.16 and have no sound.

Hello,
I don't get any sound from my laptop (Medion MD 96282), which has a
MCP51 High Definition Audio device from nVidia corporation. Ubuntu
can
find the chip, has the drivers but there is no sound at all. With my
Ubuntu 8.04 istallation I could fix the problem by adding:
options snd-hda-intel model=gateway
to the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file (my thanks to the people of
this
mailing list for this!).
The same worked with the 8.10 version. In the new version exists only
a alsa-base.conf file but I don't get any sound by adding the above
line.
Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
What does 'cat /proc/asound/version' say? If its less than 1.0.19,
that's your problem. If not, check alsamixer
