I am currently using a SB0790 (SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme) card and am using 3 x
analog stereo output channels for a multi-zone audio system.
I need to find a PCIe based card that offers the same 3 or 4x separate analog
stereo outputs rather than digital 5/6/7.1 outputs.
The Xonar DX has analog 7.1 outputs.

And they are independent output devices? Meaning, that I can assign MPD
outputs to each pair separately?
For example, here is what I currently see with the existing SB0790 card:
$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: CA0106 [CA0106], device 0: ca0106 [CA0106]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: CA0106 [CA0106], device 1: ca0106 [CA0106]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: CA0106 [CA0106], device 2: ca0106 [CA0106]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: CA0106 [CA0106], device 3: ca0106 [CA0106]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC662 rev1 Analog [ALC662 rev1 Analog]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: ALC662 rev1 Digital [ALC662 rev1
Digital]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
And the MPD configs look like this:
audio_output {
type "alsa"
name "XFi Zone1"
device "hw:CA0106,0"
format "44100:16:2"
}
audio_output {
type "alsa"
name "XFi Zone2"
device "hw:CA0106,1"
format "44100:16:2"
}
etc.
Many Thanks.
