CanadianSoftball team gets ready for 2007 Universiade
(Bangkok,Thailand) After almost two weeks off since the conclusion
of the 2007Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the
Canadian Senior WomensSoftball team will compete at the 2007
Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand fromAugust 10th to 17th. The
team will continue to focus onreaching the podium, as they have
earned a silver medal at the 2007 PanAmerican Games in Rio de
Janeiro and a bronze medal at the World Cup ofSoftball in Oklahoma
last month. This will mark the first year that the sportof softball
is included in the Universiade program.
Theteam that will be participating at the Universiade will have
a different look,as some National Team members are not eligible
to compete. The remaining rosterspots have been filled with current
members of the 2007 athlete pool, fromwhich the 2008 Olympic
Team will be selected this fall. The official one-yearcountdown
to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China is set to begin today(August
8th).

Léquipede softball du Canada se prépare pour lUniversiade de
2007
(Bangkok,Thaïlande) Après presque deux semaines de congé depuis
la conclusiondes Jeux Pan Américains de 2007 à Rio de Janeiro,
Brésil, léquipe desoftball féminine senior du Canada participera
à lUniversiade de 2007 àBangkok, Thaïlande du 10 au 17 août.
Léquipe continuera à viser lepodium, elle qui sest méritée
une médaille dargent aux Jeux PanAméricains à Rio de Janeiro
et une médaille de bronze à la Coupe du Monde deSoftball à Oklahoma
City le mois dernier. Ce sera la première fois que le sportdu
softball sera inclus dans le programme de lUniversiade.
Léquipequi participera à lUniversiade aura une différente composition,
alorsque quelques joueuses de léquipe nationale ne sont pas
éligibles à enfaire compétition. Les places restantes de léquipe
ont été remplies avecdes membres présentement dans le pool dathlètes
de 2007, qui inclue lesjoueuses qui seront considérées pour léquipe
Olympique de 2008. Cetteéquipe sera sélectionnée plus tard cet
automne. Le décompte officiel dunan des Jeux Olympiques 2007
à Beijing, Chine commence aujourdhui (le 8août).
