The 12th Annual Pete Schwab Memorial tournament is scheduled for July
12-14th in Frankenmuth's Heritage Park. As a change for 2013, this year's tournament will be limited to ASA Class B pitching and below (non-major pitchers). Pitcher's not on the Michigan ASA pitching list must be pre-approved by the tournament committee prior to the tournament. The pitcher restriction is being used as an experiment in 2013 to both align the competition level to the host team (a C team of mostly 19-23 year olds), as well as, provide a competitive tournament for traditional "league teams" - which some consider the life blood of the game. Although this format has limited the # of all-star weekend teams in this year's tournament, it will certainly provide the most evenly competitive tournament in years. The format for this year's tournament will be a 3 game round robin followed by 3 divisions of single-elimination playoffs (an 8-team championship bracket, a 4-team B bracket, and a 4-team C bracket). All playoff games will be played on Sunday, while all round robin games will be played on either Friday or Saturday.
