Team Canada Ready to Compete at
ISF X Junior Men’s World Championship
(Whitehorse, YT) The Canadian Junior Men’s National Team is ready to compete at the ISF X Junior Men’s World Championship from July 11-20 in Whitehorse, Yukon. Team Canada will play its first game against the Czech Republic at the Pepsi Softball Centre on Friday, July 11 (7:30pm PDT).
At the previous ISF Junior Men’s World Championship held in Parana, Argentina in 2012, the host team from Argentina won South America’s first-ever gold medal at the event, while Japan earned silver and Australia took bronze. Canada finished fourth, falling just out of the medal round for the first time since 1981. The last time this event was held in Whitehorse (2008), Team Canada defeated Japan 4-3 to advance to the Gold medal game, and later suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in eight innings against Australia to earn the Silver medal.
