28th Annual Lions Senior Worlds Fastball Championships

Mother  Nature cancels the championships

The tournament got underway very well on Friday with special opening ceremonies  under the direction of Chris Peters from the Lockerby Legion .The deputy mayor Ron Dupuis and MP Claude Gravelle spoke a few words prior to this year’s honorary chair Jim Kirkwood and chairperson Ike McDonald before Gravelle threw out the first opening pitch . Saturday was going well with and early afternoon  stoppage due to rain but Sunday was the breaker as the constant downpour prevented any more games to be played .The participating teams were : Toronto Bongos ,Dieppe T-Hawks ,North Stars ,the Relics ,the Sudbury Selects and the Sucker Creek Raiders .You’ll find attached a few photos of the teams involved . We are back in Azalea for the 29th edition in 2015 .
In local playoff action from the Quentin Seeley Remax Fastball League it resumes on Thursday night in Garson at 7pm with a single contest .The Dog House will attempt to clinch the #2 seed of the first round with a victory over the Panthers .

Have a nice week!

Long live fastball
