(Ottawa, ON) At the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) Softball Congress held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma last week, Softball Canada was awarded the 2018 WBSC Junior Men’s World Championship in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
“We are delighted that the international softball membership has entrusted us to host this championship in Prince Albert” said Softball Canada President Kevin Quinn. “Prince Albert is an experienced host who have proven their ability to put on great events and combine that with warm hospitality for visitors. Prince Albert is doing a fantastic job with their fundraising.”
Prince Albert will be hosting its first-ever World Softball Championship as the third and final stage of its Project Triple Play (
http://www.projecttripleplay.com/) after successfully hosting the 2015 U16 Boy’s Canadian Championship, and is currently in the process of making improvements to its facilities to meet international softball standards.
“Aallcann Developmental Fastpitch Organization and the City of Prince Albert are thrilled and excited to host the 12th WBSC Junior Men's World Softball Championship in July 2018” stated Felix Casavant, Co-Chair of the event’s organizing committee. “Prince Albert can't wait to bring the first World Championship ever to our City. We have first class facilities and know that this event will not only be a great venue to promote Fastpitch but will also be a positive and memorable experience for players, coaches, fans and volunteers!”
