Kevin suggests a nicer radio, and I do like my Yaesu FT1D for
RDF. However, the best feature of that is the RF attenuator, which makes
it possible to get a bearing when you're nearly on top of the rocket. If
you plan on using RDF just to get yourself close enough to get GPS data,
then I think that's probably less critical, and a cheap unit might work
just fine.
