You could probably fly with it as-is and be ok, but I understand why you
don't want to.

So .. your plan should work fine.

The other option is re-heat the two solder joints while pushing the
block down closer to the board.  That's what I'd do, but then, I've
spent way too many hours of my life doing precision soldering on
fine-pitch boards.  A dab of epoxy will certainly do just as well for
you and puts the board at less risk if soldering on a board like this
isn't comfortable for you.
