Thanks for clarifying this. I am still an Amanda novice.

That is somewhat worrying:

**************************************************************
bash-2.02$ amcheck Daily
Amanda Tape Server Host Check
-----------------------------
/dumps/amanda: 3018523 KB disk space available, that's plenty.
amcheck-server: slot 0: not an amanda tape
insert tape into slot 1 and press return
**************************************************************

The same happens when I insert the second tape from week 1. Worried that I
might not actually be able to restore any data, I checked the status usind
amadmin Daily info. This revealed that all the data is on tape 4 and 5. With
tape 4, using amcheck I obtain:

**************************************************************
amcheck-server: slot 1: date 20001117 label DailySet104 (active tape)
**************************************************************

So, I presume that I still have all the data. I just do not understand what
happened to tape 1 (and 2). I guess it would be safe to just relabel them,
but I am still confused. Any suggestions on what is going on?

BTW, on the topic of supplying all the output by email: does anyone know how
to copy and paste text from an Exceed X server to my Windows2000
applications?
