That won't work with Amanda.  Amanda always runs the dump program
(whatever it is) to stdout and then sends that stream across the network
to a dumper process that either writes it to the holding disk or to
a taper.  So the fact that various dump programs support things like
rmt or tape overflow is not useful with Amanda.

The change I'm talking about will allow you to set the Amanda tapedev
to something like:

  tapedev "rmt:user@host:/device/on/host"
