What version of Amanda are you using?
Did you get a core file in that directory or /tmp/amanda? If so, what
do you get when you run a debugger on amreport and the core file and
enter the "where" command, e.g.:
$ gdb /path/to/amreport /path/to/core
gdb> where
...
gdb> quit
Amreport is normally run for you as part of amdump. Why are you running
it by hand (not that that's bad, I'm just curious)?
