The tape is not repositioned after amrestore (what amrecover uses to
read the tape) is done with it.  However, the position depends on what
tape driver you use.  Some will leave the tape exactly where it is.
Others will fsf to the next tape mark.

Your safest bet is probably to rewind and fsf again so you know the
position for certain.
