Amrecover is not the issue. The issue is why amindexd is quitting. I
assume both machines are connecting to the same amindexd server?
The strace you sent stops before amindexd is barely even started.
The first thing it does is close all file descriptors from 3 on up,
but what you posted stops before that even finishes, which either means
the strace didn't work like you thought, or amindexd died in that loop.
