Welcome!

You might read http://www.backupcentral.com/amanda.html. It is an online
chapter specifically about Amanda from a book about backups in general.

There is also information at the main Amanda web site, www.amanda.org.

> dumpcycle 4 days
> runspercycle 4 days

ackup take place?

First, you have to understand that Amanda will scatter full dumps around
throughout the dumpcycle. In other words, it may do a full dump of some
of the file systems one day, a full dump of some other file systems the
next, and so on.

The parameters tell Amanda to make sure it does a full dump of a given
file system every four days. So if it does a full dump Monday, it would
strive to do another no later than Friday.

Amanda assumes it is run every day unless you change runspercycle.
As a guess, are you running Amanda four days out of each week? If so,
you might want to change dumpcycle to "1 week" and leave runspercycle set
to four (the "days" may be removed -- it doesn't matter). That tells
Amanda to do a full dump of each file system once a week, but that it
will only be run four times each week, not seven.
