Oopps... that was my original question, but I solved the problem with
(readline -> amrecover history functionality) on my own. For some reason
it took several tries to convince amanda configure to recognize the
library although it is was cached by ld.

I'll run some experiments and will share my experience, if I figure out
something that might benefit others. Anyway, thanks a lot for the useful
