portrange >1024???

Hi,

I'm new to the list and am have a question...

Why is it that Amanda wants reserved ports (<=1024) for backup and
recovery. It clearly has something to do with security, but I do not see
the point of not using higher ports. I am not very well educated in IP
theory, but maybe someone could shine a light on this matter.
