There isn't quite enough information in your strace output to tell
what's going on.
Is there a core file in /etc/amanda/PluggedIn? If so, what program is
it from ("file core")? If it's an Amanda program (as compared with mtx,
for instance), can you run gdb on it and the program and get a stack
traceback ("where")?
