The problem is with your ~amanda/.amandahosts file on sunny1.neptune.com.
It should contain:
sunny1.neptune.com amanda
You should also make sure user "amanda" has access to the file (i.e. it
owns it) and that it has search permission down through the directories
to it. For instance, try this on sunny1.neptune.com:
su amanda -c "cat ~amanda/.amandahosts"
(you may need to substitute the home directory of "amanda" for ~amanda).
