This specifically applies to dump for ext2/ext3 and not xfsdump for XFS, though xfsdump may have other problems under Linux. Of the other filesystems, I don't think ReiserFS or JFS even have a dump util at the moment, though JFS does have one under AIX (called "backup" rather than "dump"). > Especially avoid dump if you're running 2.4.0-2.4.4 SMP kernels.
