Way too many files being written. Your estimate is too low or you are using an old version of tapetype. I just looked at the source for tapetype. It seems to take the estimate with no suffix, as KB. Thus your estimate is claiming a 40MB total tape capacity. This is then divided by 1000 (100?) to determine the size of each file of random data to write.
