My daily backups go to one AIT-1 tape, 35 Gbyte capacity and it contains 131 DLE's at the moment.

I agree witht his. I mean, I believe it has zero impact. (Yes, but there are other tapes where the amount is significant. But using those older tapes with a few hundred meg capacity on current disks seems ridiculous.)
