What software are you using for your backup? (You didn't day, but it smells like dump, and dump expects either a device name for a partition or the top-level directory holding a partition.) With this DLE being the directory above two mount points (sdb1 and sdb2), dump may be confused.
Try splitting this DLE into two entries, one for each mounted file system and see if that improves things. Other than that, I can't see anything particularly wrong with your example (unless these filesystems are mounted over NFS and root is not mapped correctly). Good luck, Don Donald L.
