Yes, I'm somewhat surprised that this has not made it to the INSTALL 
file.

OTOH, if you become root, one can fix all the owner:group stuff to 
match the rest of the system in one swell foop, and a rerun of the 
make install will then fix the rest of it.  IMO not a lot of trouble, 
it can all be fixed in 30 seconds, and it teaches us to do it right 
the next time...
