I'm using Amanda to backup a number of Debian clients without any
problems
and can restore them ok.

But when I try to backup some directories on a Solaris 2.6 client using
amanda
it backups mostly ok once I make the partitions small enough to fit on
single tapes when I try to restore I get

amrestore -p /dev/nst1 host /dir | tar tvpf -
:
:
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers

I've tried using different amanda dump types without any joy,
a google on the error suggests it's something to do with compression.

A search on the amanda archives dosn't reveal anything.

I'm hoping someone on the list has seen this error
and can give me a few pointers as to where the problem lies.

regards,

Stephen
