Hence our real, 'direct' control is limited to the server side (via. some kind of 'size throttling' through Amanda and/or SMB), or in creating a special 'shared backup partition' on each machine, size regulation coming from the physical size of the partition. The idea of 'size throttling' would be much more dynamic than physical partitions, but it's the 'kludgibility' of such that doesn't look too promising thusfar...
