Or am I misreading it? The documentation you quoted seems to have come from the MULTITAPE file in the Docs directory. The head othat file states: MULTITAPE SUPPORT IN AMANDA 2.2 Draft 1 - jds 3/29/94 1. INTRODUCTION The goal of this enhancement is to make Amanda independent of the number of tapes used per run or even per dump cycle. Specifically, I would like amanda to handle the following: It is a proposal for future enhancements which have never been implemented in the production release, although there are a few people who have working patches to implement some of the proposed featues (the tape-spanning of a single dump image, at least). Although I admit I haven't read all the documentation since my initial Amanda install several years ago, my experience with Aamnda shows it never considers an image written unless it all fits on one tape, so if there is documentation that says it does continue on the next tape where it left off (instead of restarting the image on the nexttape which it does), then it is wrong and needs to be updated.
