Hadn't there been talk once on the list of UDP packet size problems too? Something like a specific operating system supporting only so many bytes in a single UDP packet, and when it got too big, things failed mysteriously? That would explain why there's so low a limit for this host. (I have several 10s of DLEs for a few hosts, and things work just perfectly.)
