As you are using Linux, the following command(s) should work:
mt -f /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target3/lun0/mt compression 0 mt -f /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target3/lun0/mt defcompression 0
Note: *) Replace the example device file with your actual tape device file. *) On some installations, you have to use the "mt-st" program, as the ~ standard "mt" program does not recognize all the special SCSI tape ~ ioctls. See your manual page mt(1) or mt-st(1) for more information.
