Second, make sure the tar is either 1.13-19, 1.13-25, or 1.15-1. These are known to work correctly with amanda. Third, tar works in a relative path manner when recursing through directory trees. This means that one can give it a starting path that is not the root directory of the filesystem. It is by this mechanism that trees too large for a single tape can be broken down into tape sized pieces. It does make for a lot of entries in the disklist file, but thats not a consideration with amanda that any of us have become aware of, and amanda has been and is being used by some very large entities. > >P.S.
