can not run amanda check

I can't run amcheck, the error message is : amcheck:running as user 
"root instead of "general".
I configure amanda to run --with-user=general, and the attribute for 
amcheck
   -rwsr-x--- 1 root disk usr/sbin/amcheck

Please help.
