Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What is strange about this output is that there are two question
marks, and a missing newline. Amanda marks each stderr line
of gnutar by prepending a character:
a pipe symbol (normal, expected output), or a question mark
for strange and error lines.
The output above seems to have mangled, somehow, or contains some
invisible characters: there should probably be two strange or error
lines, and one of them is overwritten by the second, and it's missing
a newline (at least one!).
Could there be some filename containing a carriage return or some
other strange char in it's name?
Try to read the sendbackup log file (in /tmp/amanda probably) with
an editor like vi that does not interpret those characters.
