I'm using chg-multi with two identical Exabyte drives. The capacity of each tape is slightly less than 5 Gb. I have a DLE that, at level 0, creates a dump of 22 Gb.
I haven't found any way to flush the dump from the holding disk onto tape. I have specified for the dumptype: tape_splitsize 500 Mb and I have specified for the holdingdisk: chunksize 500 Mb So I run amflush. Hours later, amflush reports: *** THE DUMPS DID NOT FINISH PROPERLY! The dumps were flushed to tapes CH0008, CH0009. *** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [No more writable valid tape found]. Nothing has been deleted from the holding disk. If I run amflush again, hours later I get the same report again. What am I doing wrong? Or does tape spanning actually *not* work unless the dump is smaller than the total capacity of the changer? (If that's the case, it might be a good idea to say so on the tape spanning page in the wiki.) -- Steve Steven R.
