Hope you're doing well.
I have a question.
I am backing up a remote server that's been connected through a VPN, and
the old way the backup this server was to create a tar file, then this
file was sent it through the network, it takes about 40 minutes all the
process.
Now, with amanda running in the remote server, to perform the same
backup during the nights takes almost 6 hrs.
I am not compressing the information, it is just sending the "raw"
backup through the network.
The question is, why is taking too much time to backup the server with
amanda?
The network guys are monitoring the traffic, and according with the
graphics, amanda is using all the bandwidth, so I think the problem is
not the network.
