I'm using Amanda 2.5.1p3 on a FreeBSD 7-STABLE server. Whenever I run
amflush, the /usr/bin/Mail process almost always hangs afterward:
$ ps aux | grep operator
operator 13413 0.0 0.0 11900 2336 ?? Is 9:12PM 0:00.01
amflush Daily
operator 13598 0.0 0.0 11904 2356 ?? I 9:14PM 0:00.03
amreport Daily
operator 13599 0.0 0.0 7048 1412 ?? I 9:14PM 0:00.00 sh
-c /usr/bin/Mail -s "Daily
operator 13600 0.0 0.0 4564 1088 ?? I 9:14PM 0:00.00
/usr/bin/Mail -s DailySet1 AM
It will stay like that until I kill the Mail process:
$ kill 13600
Then, amreport notes the failure:
$ cat amreport.20081008211423.debug
amreport: debug 1 pid 13598 ruid 2 euid 2: start at Wed Oct 8 21:14:23 2008
amreport: debug 1 pid 13598 ruid 2 euid 2: rename at Wed Oct 8 21:14:23
2008
amreport: mail command failed: /usr/bin/Mail -s "DailySet1 AMFLUSH MAIL
REPORT FOR October 8, 2008" root
amreport: pid 13598 finish time Wed Oct 8 21:20:42 2008
Any idea why Mail would be hanging for amreport? This is on a busyish
home server that delivers lots of mail daily, so I'm 99.9% sure it's not
because of problems with the mail system.
