I've fairly often noticed delays in messages getting out from the list.
Although I'm not sure, and haven't thoroughly investigated it, I thought
perhaps it might be due to the greylisting employed on my mail servers.
The greylisting is based on the trio of the from, the to, and the IP
address (we're talking envelope, not mail headers). So perhaps the fact
that the Amanda list differentiates the from (stan in your case) and the
sender (owner-amanda-users), would mean that each individual sending
through the amanda list would be greylisted separately. Not sure. But I
do often get the direct mails before the list mails.
Anyway, without really knowing, that's why I typically do a reply all
and include the original sender. That way, we can have a quicker
conversation, and it will hit the list maybe a bit later. But, like I
say, I may be obfuscating the behavior of my own mail server with the
behavior of the list.
