Yes Chris you are right it's an OS issue and I've opened a case with SUN 
support. We want to use the
sgen - Generic SCSI device driver to access the library in Solaris and the tape 
drivers. And then hopefully 
the mtx changer support in Amanda.

Your post is really an OS question rather than an Amanda question. I see that 
you also posted on the Sun forums, so that's good. I also found a post (I just 
googled "sl48 san solaris") by someone else that has a fair number of replies 
that might help. It's someone trying to do the same thing, but with NetBackup 
(which is really irrelevant). The clues appear to be related to configuring 
sg.conf and st.conf. That makes sense to me, but I've never messed with devices 
connected through SAN switches.
