Stan, can you post the problem at the beginning of your post, I don't
like to read a long post when I don't know why I read it. It's worse
than top-posting :-).Subject should describe the problem, not how you feel.
Post the taper debug files
Jean-Louis
ps. according to amcheck output, you are using 2.6.1, not 2.6.1p1

I have managed to get myself quite confused here, and I am hoping someone
can help get me unconfused :-)
I have a 2.6.1.p1 server that backs up to a RAIT. This RAIT consost of a
vtape, and a real tape. We started out life with the "tapes" being labeled
DailyDump00 -> DailyDump24. The vtape partions are vtape1 -. vtape25. Yes I
see that is a recipe for confusion.
In any case, my tapes have grown old, and I am trying to insert new tapes.
I am trying to lable these tapes as DailyDump50 -> DailyDump74
Right at the moment, I can't seem to get Amanda to realize it has a tape
avaialble. The top of the tapelist file looks like this:
0 DailyDump53 reuse
20100113222821 DailyDump52 reuse
20100112223028 DailyDump51 reuse
20100111222233 DailyDump50 reuse
20100106222354 DailyDump24 reuse
20100104222421 DailyDump23 reuse
20100104072155 DailyDump22 reuse
20091231222145 DailyDump21 reuse
20091230222238 DailyDump20 reuse
20091229222328 DailyDump19 reuse
20091228222726 DailyDump18 reuse
20091223222223 DailyDump16 reuse
20091222222404 DailyDump15 reuse
20091221222534 DailyDump12 reuse
20091220180442 DailyDump11 reuse
20091219190553 DailyDump10 reuse
20091218222246 DailyDump09 reuse
20091217222502 DailyDump08 reuse
20091216222448 DailyDump07 reuse
I would think this would be slot 4 in the "changer", but for some reason I
have to use amtape to position to slot 5 to see DailyDump53
ama...@amanda:/opt/amanda/etc/DailyDump$ amtape DailyDump slot 5
amtape: changed to slot 5 on
rait:{file:/vtapes/DailyDump/vtape5,tape:/dev/nst0}
ama...@amanda:/opt/amanda/etc/DailyDump$ amcheck -s DailyDump
Amanda Tape Server Host Check
-----------------------------
Holding disk /dumpdisk: 88156 MB disk space available, using 88056 MB
slot 4:read label `DailyDump53', date `X'.
NOTE: skipping tape-writable test
Tape DailyDump53 label ok
Server check took 12.881 seconds
(brought to you by Amanda 2.6.1)
So, at least at that point I would think I could run an amflush, but if I
do I get:
AW0041.mcn.chs:/dev/md/dsk/d0 0 6m failed to flush: no
new tape (7:58:08)
How can I get the poor girl (and I) unconfused?
