You run amrecover on the client. You'll need to add an entry to /var/lib/amanda/.amandahosts (or whatever the equiv is on your system) on the server (amrecover will tell you what to add the first time you try and run it). You may need to setup /etc/amanda/amanda-client.conf on the client to have it tell the server use the right tape drive and/or changer.
