Interesting. My Department also purchased the Enterprise Zmanda license to get NDMP support. However our lastest upgrade on the file server changed the NDMP requirements and Zmanda can no longer use it. I've switched to have Zmanda use NFS, which I could do with regular open source Amanda. So we will probably not be renewing our "Enterprise" license.

Oure filer vendor checked with Zmanda and was told there were no plans modify Zmanda Enterprise to work with the new filer OS.

Just my 2cents.

I've been aware of that fact for a while as the institution I work for
has bought in the past year an Amanda Enterprise license from
Carbonite/Zmanda for a proprietary filer/NAS that needs NDMP for backups
and back in late February I received a notice from a Carbonite sales rep
about BETSOL acquiring them.

I'm a bit pessimistic about the whole deal and considering my options
now: I have a case support that I opened before the deal was announced
in February and for weeks I have been waiting for updates, asking for
any updates, every week, to no avail. Just an automatic reply about
support looking into the issue. It's been more than 2 months now.

The sales rep though assures me that (his words):
"Betsol is absolutely honoring the licensing and support subscriptions
purchased from Zmanda-Carbonite that are still active".

just saying,

My Google alert on Zmanda woke up last night for the first time in a long time
and sent me this:

BETSOL Completes the Acquisition of *Zmanda* Enterprise Backup

    Chicago Evening Post
“We are excited to add *Zmanda* to the BETSOL product family,” said Ashok
Reddy, CEO of BETSOL.
“With the Rebit acquisition, we are gaining good traction in consumer and
SMB backup market.
Now, with *Zmanda*, our enterprise customers have award-winning reliable
product lines with
    best-in-class ...

I assume we take them at their word that it will be a seamless
transition. There is supposed to be a new Zmanda website in the
works. My sense was that it had become stale under Carbonite. For
example, the blogs show 2013 as the latest entry. I've also had some
trouble editing the wiki at multiple times over the last couple of
years.

Who is still with Zmanda in the core team and management? Are they
going to be adding anyone? Or getting help from BETSOL?

Just wondering if anyone has any inside information they want to
share – realizing it is still early in the game.
